The Town of East Hampton's licensing system for home improvement contractors is known as the Home Improvement Contractors Law (Chptr 156 of the Town code). Only persons holding a valid East Hampton Town home improvement contractor's license are permitted to engage in the home improvement business as defined in Chapter 156 of the Town code. There are a few exceptions to this rule.

There are two incorporated villages within the East Hampton Town boundaries each with their own village administration.
